Crowns and bridges, made in-house

A crown is a cap that covers a damaged tooth and restores its shape and strength. A bridge replaces a missing tooth by joining crowns on the teeth on either side.

When you need a crown

• After root canal treatment on a back tooth
• A tooth that is badly broken or heavily filled
• A cracked tooth
• To hold a bridge in place

Made in our own unit

Marwa has an in-house CAD/CAM system. Your crown is designed on computer to fit your bite and made on site. That means fewer delays and a doctor who can check the fit closely, because it never leaves the building.

A crown is usually ready in about three days.

What happens

1. Preparing the tooth. Under local anaesthesia the tooth is shaped so the crown can sit over it.
2. Measuring. A precise record of the tooth and your bite is taken.
3. Temporary crown. You wear a temporary cap while your crown is made.
4. Fixing. The fit, colour and bite are checked, and the crown is fixed in place.

Bridge or implant?

A bridge is quicker, but the teeth on either side must be cut down to hold it. An implant leaves those teeth untouched but takes longer. The doctor explains both, with costs, so you can choose.
